Day 1
Arrive at the airport in Nairobi. You will be
greeted by your Travel Wild representative and
transferred to your hotel. Overnight at Giraffe
Manor on Bed & Breakfast, which includes
entrance to the Giraffe Center, beer and house
wines.
Day 2
Fly from Nairobi to Meru National Park (1hr
10min) and take lunch. Then head out on an
afternoon game drive. The park is crisscrossed
by 13 rivers, creating a green paradise uncommon
in other Kenyan parks. The diversity of scenery
includes woodlands, open plains, riverbanks, and
alluvial volcanic deposits. Dinner and
overnight at Elsa’s Kopje Camp, which includes
beer, house wines, night game drive and a bush
sundowner.
Day 3
Enjoy the Meru National Park with a full-day
game drive. Large herds of buffalo, elephant,
eland, giraffe and zebra graze in Meru.
Leopards, lions, cheetahs and hyenas are the
predators on the plains while crocodile and
hippo populate the rivers. Take a trip to visit
the 3 rivers bordering the reserve (extra
cost). Dinner and overnight at Elsa’s Kopje
Camp.
Day 4
After breakfast, fly from Meru to Laikipia via
Nairobi (1hr 40 min to Nairobi, 1hr to Laikipia)
in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. The
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (aka Lewa Downs)
serves as a refuge for endangered species and
boasts an amazing diversity of wildlife. Dinner
and overnight at Lewa Safari Camp, which
includes beer, house wines, guided walks, night
game drive and prehistoric site visits.
Day 5
Explore more of Lewa Down with morning and
afternoon game drives. View all of the Big 5
and more with spectacular views of Mt Kenya in
the background. Dinner and overnight at Lewa
Safari Camp.
Day 6
Take an early breakfast, then fly to the Masai
Mara (1.5 hours). After lunch, depart for an
afternoon game drive. Predators and prey
abound, providing the rare opportunity to
photograph all of the ‘Big 5’ in just a few
hours. Dinner and overnight at Mara Ngeche
Camp.
Day 7
Enjoy both a morning and afternoon game drive.
Join hyenas as they scavenge on last night’s
kills. Zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo,
lion, warthog and many other species will be
visible on the wide-open plains. Opportunity to
visit a Masai village or take a balloon safari
(extra cost). Return to the lodge for breakfast
and some relaxation. Following lunch, an
afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at
Mara Ngeche Camp.
Day 8
Morning game drive, then fly back to Nairobi
(1.5 hours). Drop off at the JK International
Airport for your outbound flight. |
