Jumeirah
announces five more hotels
Jumeirah Group has announced that it has signed five new hotels in the past
two weeks, bringing the total number of new properties under development to
19. This latest announcement came with the appointment of Jumeirah to manage
Jumeirah Bali Resort in Indonesia, Jumeirah Maldives Resort in the South
Malé Atoll, Jumeirah Al Salam Resort in Bahrain, Jumeirah Al Salam Yiti
Resort in Oman, and Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel in Kuwait, all which are
are scheduled to open over the next three years.
Mecca
welcomes Ramada’s largest ever hotel
Ramada Worldwide has announced the grand opening of its largest hotel, a
998-room property in the Islamic holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Located
in the holy district of the Haram, and less than a quarter of a mile from
the Holy Mosque, the 29-story Ramada Makkah caters to guests looking to make
the pilgrimage to Mecca during the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
Radisson
set to open in Sohar, Oman
The Rezidor Hotel Group recently revealed plans to open the 212-room
Radisson Hotel & Resort, Sohar in Oman in Q1 2012. It is the company’s third
property in the Sultanate with the group currently managing the 156-room
Radisson SAS Muscat. Projects currently underway include the 175-room Park
Inn Muscat set to topen in Q1 2009.
IHG brings Holiday Inn to Syria
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of an
exclusive agreement with Hedley International Syria Ltd. to develop Syria’s
first Holiday Inn in the country’s historic capital, Damascus.
Due for completion in early 2011, the 300-room Holiday Inn
Damascus Old City will be located close to the main commercial and business
districts, and within walking distance of many historic local landmarks
including the Citadel, Omayad Mosque and Al Hamidieh Souq in the city
centre.
Holiday Inn coming to Tripoli, Libya
Sovereign Hospitality Holdings, owned by M.A. Kharafi Group
of Kuwait, has announced plans to develop an extensive resort in Tripoli,
Libya, to be managed by Holiday Inn, an InterContinental Hotels Group owned
brand. Sovereign Hospitality Holdings will invest some $130million in this
project, due to open in 2011. The extensive development will feature the 252
room, Holiday Inn Tripoli Hotel, as well as real estate opportunities
serviced by Holiday Inn, a 1.4km beach front with a private beach club and
water sport facilities, a high quality shopping complex, international food
court, convention centre and a spa.
Fairmont to manage new resort in China
Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, in which Kingdom Holding Company (KHC)
holds a 58.1 per cent controlling interest, is set to manage the Fairmont
Haitang Bay Resort, Sanya, China scheduled to open in 2011.
Sanya, on the southernmost tip of Hainan Island, is fast emerging as a
resort destination. The resort will boast a beachfront location and 702
guestrooms and suites including Fairmont Gold, the brand’s lifestyle
offering featuring personalised service with amenities such as a private
reception desk and a comfortable guest lounge. |
