ATM 2009 signs off on optimistic note
Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2009 has ended with senior industry figures
predicting the region would defy current global economic conditions to buck
world-wide trends and international downturns in travel to record solid
growth. International and intra-regional hotel operators, airlines, car
rental companies and government delegations all used ATM as a platform to
announce new initiatives and projects, as well as promote enhanced inbound
and outbound tourism products, to the buoyant Middle East sector.
Armani Hotel Dubai set to open by year-end
Armani Hotels & Resorts, a collaboration between Emaar Properties and
Giorgio Armani S.p.A, has announced that its flagship Armani Hotel Dubai is
progressing to plan, with completion scheduled before the end of 2009.
Located in the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building, Armani Hotel Dubai
will feature 160 rooms and suites that have been, along with the entire
hotel, personally designed by fashion icon Giorgio Armani. The opening of
the hotel will mark the official debut of Giorgio Armani in the world of
hospitality.
Coral signs for Morocco and Saudi properties
As part of its expansion strategy, Coral Hotels and Resorts has recently
signed management contracts for a five-star property in Morocco called Coral
Mogador, Agdal – Marrakech, as well as Coral Plaza Al Ahsa, a hotel in Saudi
Arabia. Located some two km from the airport, Coral Mogador, Agdal –
Marrakech features 610 rooms and suites as well as six restaurants, meeting
spaces, an exhibition hall and ballroom. Additional facilities include a
spa, fitness centre, pool, and traditional Moroccan Hammam.
Emaar signs for Emaar Residences at Fairmont Makkah
Emaar Residences at the Fairmont Makkah, the fully-furnished serviced
residences within the tallest tower in the Holy City of Makkah, will be
managed by hospitality operator Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. The Emaar
Residences at the Fairmont Makkah are located directly on the Haram Plaza
and residents have views of the Holy Ka'bah, Haram or city of Makkah from
their rooms. Convenient for pilgrims and families who desire to own a home
in the Holy City, the furnished residences, ranging up to 160m² in size,
will feature designs that reflect the Islamic heritage.
Imminent launch for Aldar’s The Yas Hotel
Aldar Properties has unveiled The Yas Hotel, a five-star hotel at the heart
of Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit that will be the first hotel operated by
Aldar Hotels and Hospitality, and one of seven hotels opening on Yas Island
for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in November. A bridge stretches between the
main building and the Marina Tower, enclosing a bar and restaurant with
executive level bridge that will house a rotating exhibition of contemporary
artwork by Emirati and GCC artists.
Marriott opens 10th hotel in France
Marriott International recently announced the opening of the 187-room
Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Toulouse Airport Hotel, the company's 10th
hotel in France. Located approximately four km from Toulouse-Blagnac
International Airport, the property will aim to attract business travelers
visiting the city.
