Ritz-Carlton aiming to dominate luxury sector
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, is committed to an ambitious expansion in
the Middle East with its first new hotel set to open in Saudi Arabia. The
493-room Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh sits next to the King Abdul Aziz Conference
Centre, one of the largest in the region and host to international summits
and conferences. The first to open doors this year will be the Ritz-Carlton
Riyadh followed by Abu Dhabi in the last quarter of 2011. The Riyadh
property joins eight other Ritz-Carlton hotels and resorts currently
operating or under development in the Middle East including Bahrain, Dubai,
Sharm El Sheikh, Doha, Sharq Village & Spa, Dubai International Financial
Centre, Abu Dhabi and Nile Cairo (opening in late 2011 and 2013
respectively).
Angsana to open first resort
in Mauritius
Angsana Hotels & Resorts is set to add Mauritius to its growing portfolio of
destinations, with the launch of Angsana Balaclava in the fourth quarter of
2011. Located 15 minutes away from the capital of Port Louis, the five-star
boutique resort will be situated along the picturesque Baie aux Tortues or
Turtle Bay, famed for its turquoise sea and sandy beaches. Angsana Balaclava
will feature a spa, 49 suites and a four-bedroom villa. The architecture and
interior will consist of thatched roofs, rattan wall coverings, as well as
stone flooring.
Viceroy Hotel Group to operate Yas Hotel, Abu
Dhabi
Aldar Properties, Abu Dhabi’s property development, investment and
management company, announced that Viceroy Hotel Group has been awarded the
contract to operate the Yas Hotel on Yas Island, which is recognised as the
emirate’s leading leisure and entertainment destination. Located at the
heart of the Yas Marina Circuit, home to the Formula 1Etihad Airways Abu
Dhabi Grand Prix, Yas Hotel has developed its reputation as one of the most
iconic five-star hotels in Abu Dhabi, welcoming high-level governmental
meetings, awards ceremonies and corporate conferences, as well as being
recognised as the ‘World's Best New Hotel’ at the World Travel Awards in
2010.
Rezidor signs and opens the
Radisson Royal Hotel, Dubai and the Radisson Blu Resort, Fujairah Dibba
The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies
worldwide, announces two new key properties in the United Arab Emirates: The
Radisson Royal Hotel, Dubai featuring 471 rooms and the Radisson Blu Resort,
Fujairah Dibba with 257 rooms - both managed by JAL in the past - will be
operated under the group's successful core brand with immediate effect. The
hotels are owned by ACICO Industries and its subsidiary, a Kuwait based
publically listed company.
Rotana launches latest Centro
Rotana, the region’s leading hotel management company, has announced the
opening of its 28th property in the UAE, Centro Sharjah. Staying true to the
Centro brand ethos, the Sharjah hotel offers convenience, style and comfort
for the smart traveller on a budget. Conveniently located near Sharjah
International Airport, Centro Sharjah features 306 rooms, including suites,
and is equipped with the latest in-room technology, deli-style dining
options and personal amenities. The opening of Centro Sharjah additionally
marks the attainment of the 800-room milestone for the Centro brand in the
UAE, which contributes to a total of 11,226 Rotana rooms available across
the Middle East and Africa.
Hilton to manage new Maldives resort
Hilton Worldwide is adding a third property to its portfolio in the
Maldives. Malwatte Hotels and Resorts (MHRL), a subsidiary of Sri Lankan tea
and rubber farming company, Malwatte Plantations, will own the new,
four-star resort on Maanagalaa Island. Construction on the resort gets
underway in September, and is scheduled for completion by September 2013.
The property will offer 70 bungalows in the initial stages. Hilton’s two
other properties in the Maldives are the Conrad Rangali Island Maldives
Hotel and Hilton Maldives/Iru Fushi Resort & Spa. |
