SOFITEL RIVERSIDE CHIANG MAI
Sofitel Riverside Chiang Mai soft-opened in November with the grand opening
slated for January 2007. This new five star resort, on the Ping River, is
designed in Lanna style and beautifully decorated in teak.
BURJUMAN ROTANA SUITES - DUBAI
All suites luxury hotel is geared to open its door on Feb 15, 2007.
This trendy stylish hotel is connected to Burjuman Shopping mall.
DUBAI WELCOMES SOUTHERN SUN
Southern Sun Hotels group is expanding its operations into the Middle East
for the first time. The group will operate and manage two properties,
Al Manzil which is already open and Qamardeen Hotels to be opened shortly
during the month of January.
GRAND HOTEL KEMPINSKI GENEVA
Kempinski Hotels has taken over the management contract of the Hilton Hotel
in Geneva. The luxurious 5 Star lake side property will be reopened as the
Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva in 2007. The soft opening will see the first
230 fully refurbished rooms reopened at the end of February 2007.
DUBAI HOTEL OCCUPANCY INCREASES
Dubai
hotels received 6.3 million guests in 2006, a 3.3 per cent increase compared
to the 6.1 million in 2005, according to the Department of Tourism and
Commerce Marketing (DTCM). The number of hotel establishments also witnessed
a marginal increase, with 415 last year compared to 407 in 2005.
