sees increase in tourists from ME
Sri Lanka has revealed that the Middle East is its largest growing tourist
market with a recorded 24 per cent increase in 2008, according to figures
released by the Sri Lankan tourist office.The Sri Lankan Tourist Promotions
Bureau (SLTPB) saw strongest growth in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain,
Lebanon and Iranian visitors, making the Middle East the fastest growing
source market for the country.

officially opened Staybridge Suites Cairo CityStars, the first upscale
extended stay hotel brand to be opened in the Middle East and Africa. The

welcomes The Address Hotels and Resorts
The Address Hotels and Resorts, Emaar Hospitality Group's five-star hotel
brand, has signed its first management contract with Azmi Abdelhadi (AAH)
Group, a leading Saudi Arabia based business conglomerate, to operate a
property within Jnan Amar Polo Retreat, a mixed-use development in
Marrakech. Scheduled to open in 2011, and spread over 40,000 m², Jnan Amar
Polo Retreat is developed by SIAMA (Morocco), the subsidiary of AAH Group,
and is set to be a polo and spa-retreat in a bid to strengthen tourism in
the region.
Accor
expands in Dubai with ibis Al Barsha
Accor is set to further expand its Dubai portfolio with the imminent launch
of the city’s third ibis hotel. The 480-room ibis Al Barsha is located in
the upcoming area, on the front line of Sheikh Zayed Road within easy reach
of shopping, beach and business facilities at Jumeirah, Media City and
Internet City and Mall of the Emirates. With a commitment to full service at
value for money pricing, ibis Al Barsha will have 378 double rooms, 100
twin-bed rooms and two special needs rooms across six floors, with 48
interconnecting rooms suitable for families, while all will feature
international direct dial telephones, satellite TV, high speed Internet and
Wi-Fi connections.

opening for The Cove Rotana Resort
Rotana has announced the soft opening of its first property in Ras Al
Khaimah, The Cove Rotana Resort. The property boasts more than 600m of
beachfront, and facilities including a leisure and fitness centre and a wide
choice of dining and entertainment options. The 202 hotel rooms and 76 one,
two and three bedroom villas all rooms include contemporary accessories and
modern day amenities such as multi channel TV, mini bar and personal in-room
safe, while the two- and three bedroom villas are also equipped with a
private plunge pool.
Radisson
SAS turns Radisson Blu
Radisson SAS, created in 1994 when SAS International Hotels joined forces
with the Radisson brand for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, recently
changed its name to Radisson Blu, which was announced at a grand opening
party of the first Radission Blu hotel at Zurich Airport.
