Qatar eyes 90,000 hotel rooms by 2022
Qatar is planning to have more than 90,000 hotel rooms in place for the
World Cup 2022 tournament, it was reported on Sunday.
Quoting industry
sources, local media in Qatar claim authorities plan to focus on the three
to four-star hotel sector and are planning to increase the total number of
rooms available to 90,000 hotel rooms by 2022. For the first half of 2010,
there were eight hotels that opened. There are about 20 that are scheduled
to open for the second half of 2010. The remaining hotels originally
scheduled to open by year end 2010 will open in 2011. All in all, we expect
about 40 hotels to open in the next 12 months.
Langham enters Middle East with property in Qatar
Luxury hotel operator, Langham Hotels International is set to open its first
property in the Middle East with a Langham Place in Doha, Qatar.
Set to open in late 2012, Langham Place, Doha, Qatar, will
anchor the group’s “fast developing expansion plans in the region. Each of
the 250 guestrooms and 40 serviced residences will include signature Dream

Sheraton

Core Performance, developed by Athletes’ Performance, and Sheraton have
rolled out ‘Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance’, the hotels new
training and nutrition programme for travellers. As part of Sheraton’s US $6
billion global revitalisation, 130 hotels will feature the offering by the
end of 2010, with all Sheraton hotels to boast the new programme by the end
of 2011.
Banyan tree Al Wadi launches exclusive beach club
Banyan Tree Al Wadi in Ras Al Khaimah has launched its brand new beach club,
consisting of 32 luxury Beachfront Pool Villas.
Guests will
be sailed to the beach villas in a traditional Dhow boat — just two minutes
from the main shore line. Each villa has direct access to a private beach as
well as a secluded terrace, plunge pool and covered gazebo. There is a
dedicated spa with six treatment pavilions as well as a beach grill
restaurant called Sands that will serve light snacks and a selection of
daily specials.
