UAE to construct
further 97 hotels
A research
study has suggested that 97 new hotels are likely to be added by 2010 in the
UAE to add combined capacity of more than 30,600 rooms. "In the same period,
Qatar is expected to add 39 new hotels and 9,835 rooms; Kuwait, 19 hotels
and 4,115 new rooms; Bahrain, 15 hotels and 3,615 rooms and Oman, four
hotels and 766 rooms,” said president, Reed Exhibitions, Frederic Theux.
Rezidor set to launch luxury apartments
The Rezidor
Hotel Group is set to launch its first UAE luxury apartments in the first
quarter of 2008 with the opening of Radisson SAS Residence, Dubai Marina.
The new development, set in the heart of Dubai Marina, will comprise 152
luxury apartments including 22 studios and 131 one- and two-bedroom suites.
Kempinski signs new Red Sea resort
Kempinski Hotels has been awarded the management agreement for a new
five-star luxury hotel currently being built on Soma Bay Peninsula on the
Egyptian shores of the Red Sea., set to open in mid 2008. The hotel, located
45 minutes from Hurghada city and 40 minutes from Hurghada International
Airport will offer 324 rooms and suites, including two Presidential suites.
Marriott’s 3000th property worldwide opens in Beijing
Marriott International has opened the flagship 588-room JW
Marriott Hotel Beijing in Beijing, China, under a management agreement with
Hua Mao Surapan Hotel Development Company. The luxurious 23-story hotel was
designated as Marriott’s 3,000th property. The JW Marriott Hotel
Beijing is located in the heart of the capital city, just east of Beijing’s
growing central business district.

Rotana to manage 10,000
more rooms
Abu
Dhabi-based hotel chain Rotana will bring more than 10,000 new rooms under
its management within five years as it aims to become the biggest hotelier
and hotel employer in the Middle East. The company currently manages 25
hotels in the region with an inventory of 5,539 rooms. It has signed
contracts for 35 new hotels that will create 10,660 rooms.
Starwood signs Westin hotels in India
