Two luxury hotels to open in Doha by year-end
Two of the five luxury hotels designed to be linked to the City Center
building in Doha, Qatar will open by the end of this year, The Peninsula has
reported. The five luxury hotels, two of which will be attached to the east
side of the shopping mall and the others on the west, include two Marriott
hotels - the Marriott Courtyard and the Renaissance Hotel - the Doha
Shangri-La, the Doha Rotana Hotel and a new Merweb. The Renaissance Hotel
and the Marriott Courtyard will open by the end of the year. The Marriott
Group will also open the Marriott Executive Apartments, which will have
around 123 rooms, around the same time. The Rotana Hotel, as well as the
Doha Shangri-La, which will be managed by the Faisal Bin Oassim Al Thani &
Sons Holding Company, will open in 2010.
IHG opens
23rd property in Saudi Arabia
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is continuing its drive to play a
leading role in Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry with the opening of its
second Holiday Inn in Al Khobar. The 180-room Holiday Inn Al Khobar Corniche,
at the heart of the city’s business district, also marks the company’s sixth
property in partnership with Al Hokair Group. “As the world's largest hotel
group by number of rooms, IHG has an excellent global track record in this
mixed sector and Saudi Arabia is another market where we can demonstrate our
strengths in the Middle East,” Bamsey added.
Traders
Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi soft opens
Proclaimed as a smart choice for business travellers to the emirate, the
301-room and -suite Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri has soft opened in Abu
Dhabi. General manager, Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, Adrian
Rudin said: “We are delighted to open this new Traders Hotel within the
Qaryat Al Beri complex. The opening of Traders Hotel further compliments the
existing accommodation offering of Shangri-La Hotel, and gives our guests
greater choice when travelling to the emirate." The Traders Club executive
floor features a private lounge with a dedicated concierge service, meeting
space and complimentary refreshments. The hotel also features a conference
space for small to medium-size meetings.
Shangri-La
officially opens in the Maldives
Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives has welcomed its first
guests, in effect becoming the first international resort on the
southern-most tip of Addu Atoll, claimed to be one of the least spoilt areas
in the world. The resort comprises 142 stand-alone villas, from private
ocean retreats to tropical tree house villas perched three metres above the
ground - a first in the Maldives. An elevated infinity pool further enhances
the views of the Indian Ocean. In addition to long stretches of sand, the
three-km-long island features 12 hectares of vegetation, 17,000 coconut
trees, 45 species of plants and ancient banyan trees as well as nature
trails.

Hotel in Dubai opens in October
Media One Hotel, located in the bustling Media City district of Dubai, is
set to open its doors in October of this year, promising guests a new and
trendy hotel experience. Positioned amid city landmarks and corporate
headquarters, Media One Hotel is an upscale four-star property that has been
designed with the business traveller in mind. The Media One building is a
mixed-use development comprising a hotel and offices. The hotel occupies the
first 23 floors of the 43 story tower and will offer 260 rooms, a collection
of cafes, bars and restaurants, a gym, outdoor pool and terrace.

opening of Staybridge Suites Yas Island
InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) has announced that the latest addition to
its Staybridge Suites brand will be Staybridge Suites Abu Dhabi Yas Island,
set to open its doors this Fall 2009. The 165-suite, newly-built hotel is
proclaimed to be the first of its kind in the GCC, and is located along the
Links Championship Golf Course within five minutes walking distance of the
latest F1 Yas Marina Circuit. |
