Star Cruises amends 5N/6D
Bangkok/Ko Samui Itinerary
In view of the situation in Bangkok, various countries have issued the
travel advisory to advise their citizens to avoid travelling to Bangkok. Due
to this, Star Cruises have changed the two 6D/5N Bangkok/Ko Samui itinerary
to their usual 3N/2N cruises to Singapore/Penang/Phuket/Sin (Sunday 3N) &
Sin/Malacca/KL/Sin (Wednesday 2N). The affected sailing dates are 30 May &
13 June sailing which will now be offered as 5 night
Singapore/Penang/Phuket/Port klang/ Singapore on both dates as well as the
3night and 2 night modules of the mother itinerary departing on Sundays and
Wednesdays respectively.
Rotana ready to launch its first beach hotel in Dubai
Rotana is in its final stages to open one of Dubai’s forthcoming landmarks,
the 301-room and –suite Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach Dubai, set to open on
May 15. Commenting on the announcement, senior vice president – UAE, Rotana,
Omer Kaddouri said: “The essence of Rotana is the diversity in its products,
and for us to be managing this newest property, which is Rotana’s first
property with a beach access in Dubai, makes this statement stronger. Cast
away in the turquoise waters of the Gulf, Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach lies
delicately in new Dubai just a few minutes away from Jebel Ali Free Zone,
five km away from the Internet and Media City, and 20 km from Dubai World
Trade Centre.
Jumeirah to
manage Maldives hotel
The five star property - in Gaafu Alifu Atoll - is the group’s second hotel
in the Maldives, bringing the total number of properties under development
or in operation by Jumeirah to 42. The 36-villa resort, named Jumeirah
Meradhoo, is located on an uninhabited island with 16 villas forming water
village separated from the main island by 1km of coral reef. The resort will
also feature a dive centre, three restaurants and a spa.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts opens its 1000th hotel
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced recently that the company has
reached an important milestone in its history, opening its 1000th
hotel and resort. Starwood’s 1000th hotel, which debuted on March
31, is the Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort located on the shores of China’s
famed Qiandao Lake, also, aptly known as the Lake of Thousand Islands.
Beyond its 1,000th hotel, Starwood expects to open 80-100
additional hotels in 2010 – 70 per cent of which will be outside the US,
with the majority in Asia Pacific. In China, Starwood is slated to open more
than 20 hotels this year. Growth is also accelerating in India where
Starwood already has 26 hotels and plans to increase its portfolio by 60 per
cent by the end of 2012.
Premier Inn forges ahead with UAE expansion
Premier Inn, the UK’s largest value-for-money hotel brand, has begun
building its first hotel in Abu Dhabi and fourth in the UAE at a prime
location within ADNEC’s Capital Centre, marking further progress in the roll
out of Premier Inn’s aggressive regional expansion. The
new hotel, to be ready by September 2011, will have 242 rooms, with the cost
of development reaching $32.6 million. |
